Single storethe single database for data-intensive applications, today announced the launch of SingleStoreDB with IBMdesigned to provide businesses with a one-stop-shop to take advantage of SingleStore’s powerful database technology with IBM.

With the acceleration of cloud and AI adoption, many industry leaders are more data-driven than ever. Instead of juggling complex multi-vendor data environments, customers can now simplify and unify data tiers with SingleStore and IBM. This subscription-based software, which can be deployed on-premises, in private clouds, or in public clouds, is designed to allow customers to scale as their needs change; take advantage of the familiarity of a relational database while being able to handle complex queries for analysis; and process, query, and serve historical and near real-time data using a single, multi-model database. Key customer benefits include reduced database and legacy hardware costs, faster time to insight with a single database, and the ability to quickly run data-intensive reports.

“As the world becomes more service-centric, response times will be increasingly important for new and existing applications. We believe we will see a massive overhaul of existing apps in the near future. Our relationship with IBM can help organizations have a solution designed to accelerate their return on investment and improve performance in a frictionless, hybrid multi-cloud architecture enabled by SingleStore,” said Raj Verma, CEO of SingleStore.

Through this new collaboration, IBM will offer the purchase, license and support of the SingleStore database. Additionally, customers can work with IBM Expert Labs or IBM Consulting for global deployment assistance, which can include advice on individual database technologies and overall data management architectures, including a data fabric.

“Enterprises need a data strategy designed to support mission-critical applications and power advanced analytics and AI,” said Michael Gilfix, vice president of product management for data and intelligence. AI at IBM. “Launching the SingleStore database with IBM is the latest step we are taking to help our customers adopt a data structure strategy and architecture that can enable them to take advantage of their preferred data management solutions while helping to break down barriers on-premises, public and private cloud environments, making data management easier and smarter.

“The majority of CIOs (95% according to IDC’s CIO Sentiment study) already have plans in place to modernize and streamline their legacy applications. More than a third (37%) of surveyed organizations assess their legacy applications on an annual basis. The importance of application modernization has steadily increased in priority, from 33% (of surveyed organizations ranked as “high” or “top priority”) in 2015 to 83% in 2021.” 1

SingleStore is part of the IBM ecosystem, which positions partners of all types – whether they rely on, maintain or resell IBM hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence technologies and platforms – to help customers manage and modernize workloads. This agreement is an extension of the relationship between IBM and SingleStore, including SingleStore’s certification on Red Hat OpenShift and its availability with Red Hat Marketplace. In November 2021, IBM Ventures invests in SingleStore as part of its Series F funding round.
