NEW DELHI : Traders registered on the government’s customs portal can submit their complaints regarding delays in obtaining their entry invoice, which will be forwarded anonymously to customs officers, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Taxes said. Customs (CBIC).

Traders should submit their complaints on the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway (Icegate), according to a notice from the Directorate General of Systems and Data Management of CBIC.

These will be forwarded under the Faceless Rating System, under which complaints will be forwarded to randomly selected officials to ensure objectivity.

The anonymized escalation feature will also allow users to track the status of their complaint through to eventual resolution.

A grievance can be filed for delay in assessing an act of entry if it has been pending for 24 hours or more after filing.

The complaint escalation service in the portal is part of the efforts made by customs authorities for paperless trade and transparent trade facilitation.

More than 160,000 users are registered on the portal.
